Thanks for the comments, Vicky! I agree with you that iniouscln necessarily must have as wide a definition as possible in terms of groups of learners vulnerable to exclusion. It's true that the post focused largely, though not exclusively, on supporting disabled students, which reflected the focus of three of the four speakers at the workshop. A lot of what we talked about was how teaching staff can create or adapt digital content in a way that does not introduce new access barriers barriers that I'd argue are most (but clearly not exclusively) likely to affect people with sensory, physical or cognitive impairments.But I don't think anyone involved as a learner or teacher on the PGCert would want to downplay the need to consider and accommodate other groups we do have an who leads efforts in understanding and accommodating cultural diversity. I'm not sure why he wasn't part of the event last week.Your frustration of the balance of who is included in iniouscln is interesting given that I often feel that equality events and initiatives often pay insufficient attention to iniouscln of disabled people relative to other groups, particularly in the provision of inclusive digital resources! So your counter view is a reminder to me that while we might focus on addressing the barriers experienced by one group, there are other barriers we might not see immediately but do exist and do need to be broken down.
